  1. Personalised wedding gifts

    June 22, 2011 by admin

So, whilst this blog is not JUST going to be about where I work. I will use it to point out the various products we sell. Gift Library sells perfect gifts for every occasion and also in every budget. Granted, you can spend £107,500 on this Dottling Bel-Air customisable safe (and I particularly like how they show it being used to store shoes – how many pairs of Jimmy Choos can someone have!), however our products start from around a tenner for something like this cute personalised teddy bear from My 1st Years and we have over 2,000 products from 150 designers.

And the coolest part is that we can personalise virtually anything that we sell. Whether you want embroidered initials, engraved dates or even a line from a favourite song, our personalisation department can create something even more special.

And really, nothing says special more than a personalised wedding gift. We sell lots of silver wedding gifts which are perfect for personalisation…the hallmark says quality, but the date of the wedding and the happy couples’ initials says ‘forever’.

Personally, I hate buying the towels, bed sheets or teaspoons from a wedding list. I know I’m not like a lot of guys, who see buying a gift as a pain and who will just buy the first thing in their budget, but I always like to get the thing which isn’t part of a set, or something which will last forever. My mum’s always pointing out things she got for her wedding 40 years ago and says ‘so and so bought us that’….and that’s what I want my gift to do – be a constant reminder that it was me who thought it through and selected it based on what it says about me, my relationship with the couple and how much I appreciate the free champagne!

Anyway, the point is, whatever your budget, if you personalise the wedding gift, it instantly gains sentimental value and ensures what you buy will stand out.

    Happy shopping!

  2. The stuff I want!

    June 17, 2011 by admin

I’ve always liked stuff. In particular I like stuff which comes with a plug…I get a bee in my bonnet when I read about a new mobile, a cool gadget or whatever and just have to have it. Aside form a few exceptions, like my iPad, the anticipation is nearly always greater than the having, and once you get your hands on the object of your desire, your lust for it promptly wanes. And you move on to the next thing. Problem is that I have almost everything now. Or at least the major categories are covered. Big telly, check. PS3, check. iPad, check. SLR, compact digital camera, waterproof HD video camera, check. You get the picture. So with the exception of stuff that’s not out yet I find myself thinking about other things I want.

I’ve never been what you’d call a dedicated follower of fashion; my look is jeans, Timberlands, check shirt, maybe a hoody but that’s kind of it. I’ve always found it difficult to spend big on clothes as it leaves my ‘stuff’ fund wanting. However as one grows up, one realises that one ought to look a little better healed. Granted, the hoody’s really only been usurped by a sweater vest (er, tank top?) but the quality of the garments (and sadly the price) has risen in line with my new sense of self-image. So I now like more expensive stuff which doesn’t need a plug. I’ve started buying things from Mr Porter which is a fantastic website and really makes you want to get your plastic out. My mum got me a lovely Hugo Boss man bag for my birthday and Clare got me a Paul Smith wallet. So that was a couple of things off the list. Up until recently I wanted the Aspinal of London travel wallet but £165 is hard to justify when you’ll use it 2 or 4 times a year…so I bought one from Bentalls for £40 in the hope it’ll become all beaten up over time and therefore, ironic when it slips into my Mark Giusti Every Day bag. Next month we’re going to a wedding and I really want some cool modern cufflinks like these Tateossian RT Gears Square cufflinks.

That’s the problem working where I work. Gift-Library sells such nice stuff and while a lot of it is out of my price range, it has loads of stuff you can afford. In fact our strap line is perfect gifts for every occasion and whether you need a last minute anniversary present or a cool, different wedding gift, you’ll find it on our website. Use ‘GIFTLIB’ at the checkout and get 15% off your order!

Anyway this post isn’t just for SEO (!), it will serve as a massive hint around my birthday and Christmas for those closest to me when thinking about what new stuff to buy me!

  3. Wedding gifts, baby gifts, perfect gifts for every occasion

    June 3, 2011 by admin

Hi – It’s been a while since I posted as I’ve been busy with the new job and more importantly, the new baby!

Freddie Fernie is amazing and he’s making himself heard at every opportunity and particularly at night. He’s 7 weeks old and to be fair has been a lot easier than Jake was but think that’s mainly due to us being more relaxed this time. With Jake, if he were to cry for more than just milk or a nappy change, we’d be worried sick but with Freddie we just understand he’s a new born baby and they’re not always happy and cry a lot!

Clare’s done the vast majority of night feeds but I do Fridays which is a shock to the system every week. And Jake now thinks 5:30am is an acceptable time of day to get up and start shouting. It is not. A common thread throughout this blog, particularly when it started was that of sleep deprivation. Let me tell you it doesn’t get any easier. In fact it gets harder after you’ve had a few months of a settled sleep pattern.

Anyway, I’m not the first person to be woken up constanly by his children and I certainly won’t be the last. We’re very lucky to have two healthy and happy kids and I’m learning to be ever mindful of that despite how much I moan!

What I’d also like to talk about are the amazing gifts we sell at my new place of work. Gift-Library is an online store which sells perfect gifts for every occasion. Whether you’re after wedding gifts, a birthday gifts, or an unusual gift, we’ve got something for you to give which they’ll remember forever.

Since I’ve been here I’ve become one of our best customers. It’s costing me a fortune to come to work every day! One of our best departments is for baby gifts. I’m a sucker for cute stuff for babies and recently got these personalised sheepskin booties (kinda like baby Uggs)for Freddie with his name on the back. Only £30 including the personalisation. Pretty good value even if I say so myself.

Sorry for using my blog for blatant publicity but it is kind of on topic!

Thanks all and have a nice day.

    James
